In 1963, Charlie Walker sat in a motel room in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, waiting for the phone to ring. He had driven his newly created “Power Vac” truck over 1,500 miles from his two-man shop in Salina, Kansas and had to sell the unit in order to pay for his trip back home. That first unit did sell, and as Charlie continued to grow his business he identified a growing need in the trucking industry, high-quality truck washes. Armed with this new idea, Charlie founded Blue Beacon International, which is now the undisputed leader in the truck washing industry, owning and operating over 100 locations across the United States and Canada.
In 1980, Green Lantern Car Washes was born with a self-service car wash in Salina, Kansas. Using industry-leading methods developed and refined by Blue Beacon, Green Lantern’s customers were able to get a high quality spot-free rinse that left their vehicle shiny. This experience laid the groundwork for our current model – one that takes automatic washing a step further.
In 2001, our first automated, tunnel car wash opened in Salina offering a superior quality exterior wash with a quick, thorough interior cleaning option. Since this first prototype, we have continued to expand this model into Kansas City, Wichita, and St. Louis. Green Lantern’s facilities are first-class with award winning landscaping and modern, attractive buildings featuring state-of-the-art equipment and technology. Green Lantern has earned a reputation for being an excellent corporate citizen, participating in community events and fundraisers for local organizations.
As a company who truly cares about our customers and our people, Green Lantern strives to provide its customers with top quality products and services delivered by a Green Lantern team who are professional and friendly every time.
