The Green Lantern Story

Charlie Walker (1932-2012) loved his family, flying, ranching and CARS. Not necessarily in that order.

After serving in the Air Force, Charlie’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to build mobile “Power Vac” trucks and travel across North America franchising them to fellow entrepreneurs. Through his travels, he identified a growing need for high-quality truck washes and car washes. In 1973, Charlie founded Blue Beacon Truck Washes, which has since grown to over 110 locations in the United States and Canada. In 1980, Charlie opened the first Green Lantern Car Wash. The rest, as they say, is history.

Today Charlie’s family continues to further his vision to offer the highest quality washes with exceptional, friendly service. Our facilities are second to none, with award winning landscaping and modern, attractive buildings featuring state-of-the-art equipment and technology. Green Lantern has grown to seven locations in the Midwest, which are located in the Kansas City, and Wichita areas. We will be adding two new locations in Oklahoma soon.

In May we will be changing our name to Charlie’s Car Wash to honor Charlie.  To learn more about Charlie and our name change, click here.
